A tree is thinner at the end of a warm day than it was at dawn, and swells again overnight. The dendrometers catch that at ten-minute resolution. The keys on each reading lead back to the logger it came from.

Norway is warming due to climate change. Rising temperatures and longer growing seasons may increase forest productivity - but extreme drought, late frosts, and sudden heat periods create competing pressures that are not yet fully understood.
BorealNet establishes a network of continuous monitoring plots across Norway, using dendrometers and field-survey protocols to measure how trees respond to these pressures.
